The Real Guitar Collection comprises more than 300 MIDI Samples, originally released as MIDI Groove Clips for Sonar 3.

A ‘MIDI Groove Clip’ is a .MID file that contains additional control information that relates to Sonar. However you can freely load these files into any other DAW (Cubase, Logic etc) or indeed workstation such as Motif/ES and the loops will function exactly does as any other ‘normal’ .MID file.

The Real Guitar Collection’s initial brief was to take guitar loops found on a range of Twiddly.Bits MIDI Sample libraries - Acoustic & Electric Guitar, The Funk, and Jazz Brass Guitar & Solo Instruments - and re-master them adding the new MIDI Groove Clip data.

However, in the process we couldn’t resist recording a whole bunch of brand new material as well. Making their debut here are a great many rock strums, and lines, some beautiful folk strums, and a whole category of Latin guitar ranging from definitive Samba and Bossa grooves, to, well, just ‘Santana-ish” parts and feels.

If you already own all three of the Twiddly.Bits titles mentioned above the level of ‘duplicated’ loops may too high to merit purchasing The Real Guitar Collection as a separate item. However, given the proportion of completely brand new material, plus the range of titles from which data has been taken, owners of one or even two of the pre-existing libraries will still find plenty of fresh and compelling material here.
